2008 ABCR Convention - Letter from Keynote Speaker Greetings, My name is Tena Bastian and I am an author, clinician and fellow horse enthusiast. Since the release of my first book, The Foal Is The Goal, I have had the opportunity to travel the country and present seminars at events such as Equine Affaire, The North American Horse Spectacular and The Western States Horse Expo. Wiley publishing has just recently released my latest two books, The Horses We Love The Lessons We Learn and Tips and Tidbits For The Horse Lover. For those of you that don't know me from my books and seminars, I have also been a guest on two nationally syndicated radio talk shows, Pet Talk Radio and The Horse Show with Rick Lamb. I am writing to you to tell you that I am excited! I hear your national convention is coming up in just a few months and I am looking forward to joining you in Lexington, Kentucky. Although July seems as though it is really far away, I assure you that once the weather breaks, it will be here before we know it. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and discussing such issues as handling a stallion, timing a mares cycle for optimum success, methods of breeding and which is best for you, and many other areas of a successful breeding program. We will be discussing pregnancy and foaling, common myths and misconceptions and I promise you that it will be informative and fun. There is nothing better than a lot of horse people getting together for some good food, some good conversation and by the looks of your agenda, we are all going to be quite busy. Interventional Radiographer at the Dearborn County Hospital. However, his passion for horses and archery take up much of his free time. Dana’s horse experience is longstanding; he has bred and trained BLUE STAR Arabians. He is an accomplished equestrian and archer, demonstrating his skills in South Korea and across the United States. He is currently the Vice President of the Mounted Archer’s Association of the Americas. Dana also authored a chapter in the book, Mounted Archery in the Americas. He agreed to perform this demonstration aboard PoGo Man and not is regular mount, a Blue Star Arabian called Murphy. Dana was pleased by PoGo’s progress in a single lesson, allowing him to shoot from a gallop without reins in less than an hour. I am proud to introduce you to my friend and look forward to this demonstration of horsemanship and archery. |
