MEET YOUR BOARD MEMBERS

Lindsay Braman

My name is Lindsay Braman and I am one of the newest additions to the ABCR board. I live in southwest Missouri, about 10 minutes from the Kansas state line. I have a budding Bashkir Curly breeding program and am very active with curlies in the local sporthorse & dressage world.

I've loved horses all my life but allergies kept me away from them through my youth. About 10 years ago I read about hypoallergenic Bashkir Curlies and knew I had to had one some day! It was about 5 years after first learning about the breed that I was able to meet my first curly. I will never forget the first time I wrapped my arms around a horse's neck, buried my face in his neck, and had no allergic reaction at all!

Last year one of my horses, NE Prime Time Regal, won the ABCR National Performance Championship. It meant so much to me! This year I turned my focus to competitive dressage. Regal and I won a reserve champion in training level at our second ever dressage show this fall and are training hard to be ready to start next spring at first level. I love competing a non-traditional breed in sporthorse events among a sea of warmbloods, people actually turn their heads when my curly enters the ring! My curlies are the center of attention everywhere I take them and I have to admit that's one of my favorite parts of owning curlies!

I am also host of the Central States Curly Show, an annual all-curly horse show in Joplin, MO. It's a lot of work, but to see so many curlies in one place and owners having so much fun is worth it. We do a range of events at the show including halter, english, western, and games classes. The tentative date for 2008 is September 20. You can read more about this event (including finalized date when it becomes available) at www.curlyshow.com

My primary goals on the ABCR board include: 1. fostering growth of our youth programs and developing new youth incentives. 2. encouraging training and showing of curlies by helping establish curly breed shows across North America. (I am currently working on a Curly Horse Show Manager's Handbook to help organizers) and 3. bringing my experience in web design, content management, and ecommerce to the continued development of the ABCR website.

Please don't hesitate to contact me for any reason! Anyone interested in supporting curly breed showing by attending our show, volunteering, sponsoring, or who would like help hosting their own show, can contact me through my farm's website http://www.curlyfarm.com or the show's website: http://www.curlyshow.com
