Dear Membership,
during the last convention, it was discussed that we might want to add some
further books to the ABCR registration system. It was also discussed that certain
minor changes might be done, e.g. also allow Part Bred Stallions to have progenies
at least to a certain number.
Please find a draft of the proposed ABCR registration policy here. This draft
contains 2 Main and 3 Side Books. The 2 Main Books (Full and Straight Book as 1A
and 1B, Part Bred as 2) remain closed, and there are certain rules about breeding
that can be found on the registration chart on page 3.
Remember, this is a first draft, and we ask the membership to have a close review and give feedback. In case of any questions or if clarification is needed, please contact your District Representative first for further explanation. You can find your District Representative here.
We plan to have that draft discussed with the whole membership at the next convention. See you all there!

Cerebellar Abiotrophy (CA)
Deriving from the Arabian Horse, Cerebellar Abiotrophy is a recessive disease that affects the coordination controlling area of the brain. Latest studies found that it can be passed on to other breeds that carry Arabian breeding influence. Carriers of the CA gene seem to be healthy and show no clinical symptoms.
Owners of Curly Horses can test their horses for CA before breeding at UC Davis - click here. Use your current account or create one and order the CA Test for your horse. Further information about CA and the Curly Breed can be found in this article: The Horse. Also see the Cerebellar Abiotrophy website. ABCR will have a close look into the matter and discuss this with members, geneticists and other experts to obtain thorough information in order to derive a reasonable and adequate policy on this serious matter. Please read this announcement.
